Drive to the end of Black Bear Road near Round Pond. Round Pond is on Pole Road which is the extension of the DeBruce Road and Willowemoc Road that starts in Livingston Manor. You may also take Route 47, the Frost Valley Road, from Claryville or Big Indian. It seems to be permissible to park at the end of the paved road at the snowplow turnaround just before the road enters the woods. As always it may be possible to get permission to park at one of the hunting camps in the area. There seem to be several inholdings surrounded by the Big Indian Wilderness Area which is state land so permission to hike will avoid trying to work around that land. I walked about a half mile in on the road and then cut up the hill in a northwesterly direction to gain the ridge. Of, course bushwhacking requires no specific route but I found the first .6 miles difficult with steep areas and a lot of blowdown and prickers. After this I hit a high spots and stayed on its south side before dropping into a col and then reading the high point at about 1.3 miles. I tried coming off the high point and heading due south to cut some distance but ran into the thick stuff and some cliffs. I headed back to my original route and followed it back to the road and out to the car. The round trip was about 4.0 miles and can easily be combined with High Falls Ridge.
