It is possible to hike only to Newfoundland and then move your car and hike Green Pond. This description includes hiking both peaks from the same trail head off R3oute on Bigelow Road.
Take Route 23 south and east toward Charolletsburg Reservoir. Turn south and west, a right, onto Green Pond Road. The first right is Bigelow Road. Park in the small pulloff at the end of Bigelow Road. There should be trail blazes for the Four Birds Trail. Get on the trail and hike for about .7 miles. The trail will start to descend at this point so start to bushwhack to the high point. After getting the summit, return to the trail. You can go back to the car or turn right and follow the trail toward Green Pond Mountain. In another .4 miles or 1.2 miles into the hike you will be walking along the edge of the ridge and come to some white pine tress right and the cliff's edge. This is White Pine Bluff and offers a great viewpoint. The trail then descends and becomes ,ore "rustic" as you go. At about 1.5 miles you will be at a low point and start the ascent to another ridge with some views. Around 2.6 miles you will drop off this ridge to a power line right of way and road. Turn right up the right of way and walk uphill to its highest point. You may start to bushwhack here or find the road that turns left and runs the entire length of the Green Pond ridge! It is bless than 1.0 miles now to the high point near the end of the ridge at about 3.5 miles. Turn around and follow the reverse route back to the car.
